Waterloo Regional Police are investigating two robberies of a Waterloo convenience store in a 14-hour period – and say they may be connected to a larger string of holdups.

Police say the first robbery occurred around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, with a man entering 7-Star Convenience and approaching the cashier while holding what is believed to be a gun and demanding cash.

Police describe him as white and 5’7”, with blue eyes.

He was wearing a black jacket with a grey stripe across the back, black pants, black shoes and a black ski mask, as well as a scarf.

Around 8 a.m. Monday, the Erb Street West store was robbed again.

In this case, police say, a weapon was again seen.

The man in Monday’s robbery is described as white, 5’6” to 5’9” and wearing a black balaclava, black hoodie and black puffy jacket.

He left the store without obtaining anything and was last seen running onto Beverley Avenue.

Police say they believe the two robberies are linked to each other and three previous holdups – one at the Short Stop on Bridge Street West in January, one at the Pizza Pizza on Erb Street West in August 2013 and one at the Mac’s Convenience store on Fischer-Hallman Road in Kitchener in August 2013.
