A Fergus man was clocked travelling on Highway 6 at more than double the speed limit, police say.

An OPP officer patrolling the highway north of Guelph, near Wellington Road 51, noticed the speedy Mazda.

Radar clocked it at 167 km/h, Wellington County OPP say, while the speed limit in the area is 80 km/h.

Timothy Prudence, 47, is charged with racing a motor vehicle.

He also forfeited his driver’s licence and vehicle for one week.
