Waterloo Regional Police homicide investigators have determined an unidentified man in a photo released on July 29, 2013 is no longer a possible witness.

Investigators were pursuing a lead that the photo of two unknown individuals could help in the investigation into the death of Erin Howlett.

The body of Howlett, a 28-year-old Elmira resident, was found July 5 in the Grand River, near Riverbend Drive and the Walter Bean Trail in Kitchener.

Investigators were pursuing a lead that the male and a female could have some important information to assist the on-going investigation.

The female was later identified and it was determined she had no involvement.

No arrests have been made and no charges have been laid, but police say they consider her death to be suspicious.

Investigators are still looking for information relating to a green Coach purse believed to belong to Howlett.

Anyone with information on the purse, or the case, is asked to contact homicide branch at 519-650-8500 ext. 8642 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
