An 18-year-old man is in custody following last week’s stabbing at the University of Guelph.

According to Guelph Police, the stabbing began Friday afternoon as a drug deal, with two 18-year-olds meeting on campus for a marijuana purchase.

The buyer of the marijuana then allegedly stabbed the seller, stole the marijuana and ran off.

He was arrested Sunday afternoon in front of Guelph City Hall, and faces a variety of charges.

Police say the man arrested had recently moved to Guelph from Mississauga and is not a student at the university.

The victim remains in stable conditions, but is expected to undergo surgery.
