More than 900 people in the Elmira area were left without electricity Thursday morning.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., a concrete truck hit a hydro pole on Church Street East.

The driver of the truck was not hurt, although he was essentially trapped inside his vehicle for some time because the crash left live wires on top of his truck.

According to Waterloo North Hydro, most of the power was restored by late morning but some properties in the area were expected to be without power until around 5 p.m.

Church Street was closed between Riverside Drive and Centre Street as hydro crews worked in the area.
