One truck driver was taken to hospital Wednesday after his vehicle and another truck collided on Highway 401 west of Ayr.

The collision occurred around 11:10 a.m., in the westbound lanes of the highway west of Oxford Road 3.

Oxford County OPP say the truck lost control due to a mechanical issue, and ended up hitting a tractor-trailer parked at the side of the highway.

After that, police say, the truck hit a road sign before coming to a stop in the ditch.

Its driver was helped out of the truck by people who had stopped at the scene, and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Nobody else was hurt.

One lane of the highway was closed until late Wednesday afternoon.
