A man was trapped under dirt and equipment at a construction site in Waterloo Saturday afternoon, and needed to be rescued.

Waterloo Fire says a shift in soil or gravel pinned the worker against a foundation wall at a site at 238 King Street North near University Avenue.

He was up to about his knees with a circular saw head trapping his foot, according to officials.

Firefighters say it took a couple of hours to safely help him out, and he was taken to hospital.

Waterloo Fire says he was not seriously hurt.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
