Residents are still assessing the damage after tornadoes touched down in Windsor and LaSalle last Wednesday.

The first one hit LaSalle just after 7 p.m. Environment Canada said it was an F-1 tornado with wind speeds of 145 km/hour. An F-2 tornado touched down in a Windsor neighbourhood ten minutes later, and tore through an industrial area.

Sean Holt works at a truck maintenance business on Deziel Drive.

“A couple of our trucks took a hit. A lot of trailers in the backyard. We got some flipped over. [Waste] bins are thrown about. One through the side of another vehicle.”

The tornadoes damaged industrial buildings, cars and hydro poles were ripped from their bases.

Some of the hardest hit businesses are still adding up the damage.

“Insurance companies will want to see this, look at the photos,” says Jim Parker of Parker Construction. “For the next week it’s probably gonna be a paper chase. And then things will actually start to happen with repairs.”
