Authorities in Brantford are trying to track down the owner of a Rottweiler that bit a toddler.

The 18-month-old girl was bitten in the back of her leg last Saturday, in Mohawk Park.

Her injuries were not serious enough to require an ambulance, but her parents were urged to talk to medical professionals about the bite.

Brantford Police say the owner of the dog left the area after the bite, without identifying herself.

Police describe her as being white, thin, about 5’6” tall and likely in her 40s, with short, dark hair.

She was seen wearing a pink hoodie under a dark jacket, as well as blue jeans.

Police say they want to speak to her so they can know more about whether the bite could pose any health risks to the child.

“We need to ensure that the animal is up to date on all of their immunizations,” said Const. Laura Collier.
