The Office of the Fire Marshal and forensic detectives were among those seen investigating a restaurant fire in Guelph on Monday.

What they found inside Ken’s Family Restaurant isn’t clear, but it wasn’t enough for them to definitively state that the fire did or did not have a specific cause.

Fire crews were called to the restaurant, located at Silvercreek Parkway and Woodlawn Road, around 8 p.m. Sunday.

They were able to extinguish the fire, but the one person inside the restaurant was taken to hospital with non-life-threating injuries.

Three police officers were also hospitalized due to smoke inhalation.

Police say damage to the restaurant is significant, but an exact dollar figure was not available.

The entire plaza was blocked off by investigators through the day Monday, causing frustration for residents who had driven there hoping to renew their driver’s licences at ServiceOntario.
