Men's basketball player Maxwell Allin of Chatham and women's soccer player Kelsey Tikka of Thunder Bay were named the recipients of the 2012-13 President's Award as the Wilfrid Laurier Department of Athletics hosted its annual athletic banquet.

The President's Award, which was one of 11 major awards handed out at the banquet, is awarded annually to the most outstanding athletic performance from a male and female athlete over the past year.

Allin, a fourth-year guard, became just the sixth men's basketball player in Laurier history to earn CIS All-Canadian honours this season when he was named to the second team following an outstanding year.   Allin led the country in scoring, as he finished the season averaging 23.2 points per game.

Tikka, a third-year defender, was named a CIS All-Canadian for the second consecutive season after another outstanding year as a central piece of the Lady Hawks’ defence.  Tikka was instrumental in helping the Hawks repeat as OUA West Division champions as Laurier allowed just 11 goals against in 16 games this past year.
