Calls for more information about trustee expenses to be made public were heard Monday night at a meeting of the Waterloo Region District School Board.

Current, the board only shares expenses in two categories – travel and professional development – with the public.

Earlier this month, CTV News was told a further breakdown of those expenses could only be obtained via a freedom of information application.

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board, by way of contrast, provided more specific spending data upon request.

Monday night, trustee Cindy Watson put forward a motion asking for similar information to be made public and posted to the board’s website.

“People want to know where their tax dollars are going. It’s about us providing that sort of information,” she told CTV News.

Watson’s motion is expected to be debated in November.

Trustees Kathi Smith and John Hendry brought forth similar motions Monday night.
