As some clients of Parlour Soiree say they’re being refunded the deposits they were worried about when the wedding vendor abruptly closed its doors, other stories are emerging of people out money and concerned they won’t get it back.

Parlour Soiree, which operated out of a building on Sawmill Road in Conestogo, suddenly ceased operations earlier this week.

A statement on the company’s website said that it was taking a “leave of absence” and leaving Ontario.

Owner Amanda Seymour also emailed her clients, apologizing for their “pain and trouble” and saying she would liquidate her assets, then use proceeds from that to refund their deposits.

“You have put your trust in me and I have let you down,” she said.

Concerned clients started discussing the issue on Facebook. A group billing itself as being for “victims” of Seymour quickly gained more than 120 members.

By Friday afternoon, there were multiple messages on the group page from people saying they either had their deposits returned, or had been told theirs would be returned in short order.

One person who says he hasn’t heard anything reassuring is Scott Norris, the owner of KW Flowers.

Norris says Seymour had been purchasing flowers through him in recent weeks – and though she paid him for some of them, she still owes about $3,600.

“That’s a lot of money for a little flower shop,” he said in an interview.

Norris says Seymour wasn’t returning his calls, so he paid a visit to her house. Once Seymour realized it was him, he says, she went inside and locked the door.
