As Canadians yet to complete their census forms get reminders from Statistics Canada about their obligation to do so, one local community is being told to ignore the warnings.

The Six Nations Elected Council issued an announcement Tuesday saying that “census reminder cards” delivered around the Six Nations community were sent out in error.

“Statistics Canada apologizes for the miscommunication, and has advised all community members residing on the territory to disregard the reminder to complete the 2016 Census Questionnaire,” the announcement reads.

According to the council, Statistics Canada has been denied entry to Six Nations territory to conduct census counts due to concerns about Six Nations residents’ privacy.
