It was a wet and messy day in southern Ontario.

Preliminary estimates show approximately 20 mm of rainfall in Waterloo Region, with other parts of the province seeing other more -- in some cases significantly more.

Seaforth was one of the hardest-hit areas, with heavy flooding reported in fields and parks, and a section of Highway 8 closed for several hours.

Rainfall warnings and severe thunderstorm watches that were in place most of the day for parts of our coverage area were rescinded around 3:15 p.m.

Environment Canada had said that as much as 75 mm could fall on Waterloo-Wellington, Oxford-Brant and Perth County, accompanied by flash floods and sudden pooling of water on roads.

Moving in behind the storms was a cold front, which is expected to leave southern Ontario with highs in the upper teens for Wednesday.
