A Guelph man says his dispute with Elections Canada over accessible voting has come to a close.

On Monday, a human rights tribunal began hearing Matt Wozenilek’s complaint against the electoral agency.

Wozenilek, who uses a wheelchair, said he was made to feel like a “second-class citizen” by being unable to access polling stations and returning offices on his own.

He had called for automated doors to all polling stations across the country, as well as financial compensation.

Mediated talks had been ongoing since Monday, and Wozenilek said Wednesday afternoon that the two sides had reached a deal.

“I am very happy with the outcome,” he said in an email.

More details are expected to be made public Thursday.
