Waterloo Regional Police have a man in custody following two alleged random assaults on women in Cambridge.

Both attacks occurred Tuesday afternoon on Melville Street North, outside the Chartwell Queen’s Square retirement home.

One of the victims was a 95-year-old woman, who was taken to hospital, treated for facial injuries and released.

The other victim, a 69-year-old woman attacked a few minutes later, did not require medical attention.

A 27-year-old man faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and breach of probation.
