A second person has been arrested in connection with an alleged attack that sparked a 20-hour standoff in Brantford.

Brantford Police say a 51-year-old man faces charges including forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and robbery in connection with the kidnapping of a 19-year-old man early Sunday morning on Pearl Street.

He’s also charged with drug possession, as he allegedly had cocaine on him when police caught up with him on nearby Waterloo Street.

Police have said that the 19-year-old was attacked on the street, then again at two separate locations.

One of those locations was a home at the corner of Palace and Pearl streets, which police surrounded for 20 hours as they believed weapons may have been inside.

Alden Whalen, 20, faces similar charges in relation to the same incident.

Police say they expect to make further arrests in connection with the case.
