The Kitchener Rangers have started to address their overage situation for next season and the odd-man out is goaltender Brandon Maxwell. The Cambridge-native has been traded to the Sarnia Sting for 18-year-old forward Brandon Francisco.

Maxwell played two seasons with the Rangers, posting 45 victories with a .902 save percentage. The Colorado Avalanche drafted Maxwell in 2009, but did not sign him to an entry-level contract. Maxwell is now a free agent.

Sting General Manager Jacques Beaulieu says, "Brandon is a top-tier goaltender in our league. He immediately solidifies our goaltending situation."

Rangers' Coach and G.M. Steve Spott says Mike Morrison will be Kitchener's starting goaltender this season. Morrison earned 15 wins last season, while splitting duties with Maxwell.

Brandon Francisco is a speedy left winger, who scored 14 goals for the Sting last season. He played his minor-midget hockey with Rangers' defenceman Ryan Murphy.
