The second weekend of fall will be the first to feel like it.

For the first time since early May, highs in the single digits are possible for Waterloo-Wellington and other parts of southern Ontario.

The drop in temperatures won’t hit right away – Friday’s expected high in Waterloo-Wellington is 22 C – but they will arrive late Friday in the wake of precipitation and other unsettled weather.

For that region, temperatures are expected to drop through the day Saturday, with windy conditions and a 60 per cent chance of showers.

Sunday will bring a high around 13 C, with the risk of showers continuing, but down to 30 per cent.

In Huron-Perth and Grey-Bruce, rain will begin around noon Friday, likely letting up later in the day – although a risk of a thunderstorm will remain into the evening.

Weekend forecast highs in Grey-Bruce are 15 C on Saturday and 11 C on Sunday, with showers expected Saturday and possible Sunday.

Huron-Perth will see a 60 per cent rain risk and a high of 17 C reached early Saturday, followed by a lesser chance of rain and a high of 13 C on Sunday.

It’s a similar story in Oxford-Brant, where weekend highs are forecast at 17 C and 13 C and the sun may peek out for brief periods on Sunday.
