The Ontario premier’s four-day, 13-city tour arrived in Kitchener Sunday, ahead of the upcoming provincial budget.

Kathleen Wynne visited Christie Digital, where she touted the Liberals’ job creation strategies, and the party’s recent move to increase minimum wage.

“The conservatives would say never raise the minimum wage,” she said. “The whole time they were in office they didn’t raise the minimum wage. I think it’s astounding that the NDP doesn’t have a position on minimum wage.”

The NDP’s economic development critic, for her part, says the party does indeed have a position on minimum wage.

“In our 2011 platform, we were already at $11,” notes Catherine Fife, NDP MPP for Kitchener-Waterloo.

The premier said she’s not campaigning, but with a provincial election potentially months away, others disagree.

“While the premier is out politicking, you know, attacking our plan, we’re the only party that has a substantial plan that will get Ontarians back to work,” says Michael Harris, Conservative MPP for Kitchener-Conestoga.

By-elections are taking place this week in Niagara Falls and Thornhill. Pundits say there’s a chance the Liberals could get shut out of both ridings, putting even more pressure on the budget.
