People in parts of Waterloo Region are being asked to keep an eye out for a blue duffel bag that may contain three guns.

Waterloo Regional Police say they’re looking to locate the bag as part of their investigation into a robbery that occurred earlier this week at a home in Waterloo.

Early Wednesday morning, police say, five men showed weapons as they robbed a house on Hazel Street. Laptops and cellphones were among the items stolen.

One person inside the home was shot by what police called an “imitation firearm,” and required medical attention as a result.

Police later caught up with the five men allegedly behind the robbery at the service centre on Highway 401 near Cambridge.

Five people, all from the Greater Toronto Area and all between the ages of 19 and 22, are charged with assault with a weapon, robbery, possession of stolen property and other offences.

Police say that they have been unable to locate a blue duffel bag that may contain evidence relating to the robbery.

They believe the bag contains electronics, and may have three firearms or imitation firearms in it as well.

Anyone who comes across such a bag is asked to contact police, who believe it is more likely to be in neighbourhoods around Columbia Street, Lexington Road, Bridge Street, University Avenue East or Waterloo Region’s highways.
