An early-morning call for Guelph Police turned out to be not quite what officers expected.

Police were called to a Gordon Street residence around 5:40 a.m. following a report of a man screaming for help.

A baby was also said to be scraming.

When officers arrived, they found no baby in the residence – only a man and his cat.

The man claimed to have been attacked by the cat, and police say he had received “very minor” scratches.

The Humane Society was brought in to remove the cat from the residence.
