Waterloo Regional police are in the midst of an investigation at the corner of Parkside Drive and Bearinger Road in Waterloo.
Two stolen vehicles were located in a north Waterloo parking lot earlier Friday morning.
Around 7:30 a.m., police were following one of those vehicle, a white Ford pickup truck, southbound on Parkside Drive. Officers attempted to box it in with their vehicles at a stop sign.
The driver of the pickup hit the accelerator, ramming two unmarked police vans. One was extensively damaged, the other received minor damage.
A short distance later the truck crashed into a utility pole.
Police say three suspects have been taken into custody.
The southbound lanes of Parkside Drive were expected to be closed for several hours as the crash scene was cleared and the investigation completed.
