The Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society is still trying to determine the whereabouts of a boa constrictor said to be on the loose in a Kitchener neighbourhood.

Tuesday night, a person living in the Mill-Courtland area called the Humane Society to say that their neighbour’s snake had escaped and was missing.

Humane Society investigators and police searched for the snake Wednesday, but came up empty.

A media report Thursday claimed the snake may have never left its home, and the entire incident was a misunderstanding.

Friday morning, officials with the Humane Society said they could not confirm that report, as they had yet to successfully make contact with the animal’s owner.

Boa constrictors are not venomous. They do represent a potential danger to small animals, as their natural diet can include birds and mammals.

Anyone with information about the snake’s whereabouts can contact the Humane Society at 519-745-5615 during business hours, and 1-877-289-9317 outside those hours.
