A veteran police officer is facing a charge of careless driving following a four-vehicle crash in Wellington County.

The collision occurred around 6:45 p.m. Thursday, on Brock Road in Aberfoyle.

Police say the officer failed to stop for a line of three vehicles stopped ahead of him, causing all four to collide.

Nobody involved in the crash needed hospital treatment, but all vehicles received what was termed “moderate” damage.

The charged officer has been with the OPP for 19 years, and is currently working for their investigation and enforcement bureau.

A police press release about the charge identified him only as “G. Lake.”
