Provincial police say they’ve made an arrest in connection with a bank robbery in Tillsonburg earlier this month – but the man arrested isn’t the one they asked the public for help finding.

The CIBC branch in the Town Centre Mall was robbed Dec. 12 by a man who allegedly claimed to have a weapon and got away with an amount of cash.

Last week, police released details of an arrest warrant issued for Christopher Sheardown, a 31-year-old man of no fixed address, in connection with the robbery.

Monday, Oxford County OPP said they had arrested Ryan Ford, a 24-year-old man of no fixed address, in the Aylmer area.

He faces charges of robbery with violence and breach of probation.

Sheardown, who remains at large, is still sought in connection with the robbery.

He is said to be six feet tall and 180 pounds, with a thin build, dark hair and ties to the Tillsonburg, Woodstock and Brantford areas.
