An incident on a farm in Norfolk County has left one person dead.

Authorities including Ornge paramedics were called to a farm on County Road 45, in the North Walsingham area, around 7 p.m. Monday.

According to Norfolk County OPP, a 56-year-old man was operating a fertilizer spreader, travelling through a tobacco field.

As the machine left the field, it went 75 feet down an embankment, coming to rest overturned in a pond.

A seasonal worker who was a passenger on the machine ran to a nearby farm to call for help.

Firefighters were able to remove the man from the water, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been identified as Cyriel D'Hulster, a 56-year-old Norfolk County resident.

The Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Environment are investigating.
