What witnesses thought may have been an abduction was actually a family matter in which nobody was harmed, police say.

The incident occurred Monday evening on Parkside Drive in Waterloo, near Weber Street.

Police were told that they heard screams, after which they saw a man and woman pick a girl up and carr her into a waiting pickup truck.

“Naturally, they became concerned,” said Waterloo Regional Police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel.

Through investigation, police later determined that all people involved in the incident are related to each other and that there was no violent or criminal action taking place.
