When temperatures warm up on April Fool’s Day, it won’t be Mother Nature pulling a prank.

In fact, it’ll only be a preview of what’s to come.

Environment Canada is forecasting the first double-digit temperatures of the spring to arrive across our viewing area in the run-up to Easter.

In Waterloo-Wellington, daytime highs for the rest of the week are forecast to be 6 C, 11 C and finally 13 C on Good Friday.

That’s the silver lining to a bunch of literal clouds, which are expected to move in early Thursday.

Waterloo-Wellington is forecast to see a 60 per cent chance of rain on Thursday, and 30 per cent chance on Friday.

The risk of rain is the same in Oxford-Brant and Huron-Perth, but the temperatures are slightly different – Wednesday is expected to bring a high of 7 C (6 C in the Wingham and Listowel areas), followed by 12 C on a windy Thursday and 12 C again on Friday.

In Grey-Bruce, Environment Canada is calling for a Wednesday high of 7 C, with a chance of showers beginning late in the evening.

Thursday is expected to be rainy with a high of 10 C, while Friday will be cloudy with a high of 7 C and risk of rain.

Temperatures across our coverage area will fall back down over Easter weekend, with more rain or even snow possible.

The last time most of southern Ontario hit double-digit temperatures was Dec. 24.
