A new airline will be taking off from the Waterloo of Region International Airport by the end of the month.

NextJet Canada will offer flights from Kitchener to Peterborough, Gatineau/Ottawa and Montreal starting on May 30.

NextJet president Tan Ahmed says their target customer is business professionals who need a hassle-free and convenient travel option.

“We did a lot of research,” says Ahmed. “The response we got from people… it has be competitive with the price of gas, parking and time. That’s the most important thing.”

Passengers only have to show up 15 minutes before take-off, and the planes will be smaller with seats for only nine passengers.

A one-way trip will cost $100 with taxes included.

The airline is also planning on adding a new route from Kitchener to Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport.

A one-way trip between the two cities would take about 20 minutes.
