Statistics show young workers are more likely to get injured during the first few months at a new workplace and the Minister of Labour wants to ensure youth in Ontario understand their rights surrounding workplace safety.

Workplace Safety and Prevention Services is launching a new website (Bringsafetyhome.com) in June to help protect young workers on the job; they’re also utilizing social media platforms to spread the message.

1st year Wilfrid Laurier Student Kwadwoobeng Arhin is pleased with the initiative.

“I think we’re more at risk for being taken advantage of because of our age,” says Arhin.

“Sometimes I think they overlook the risks that are inherent in every workplace in the province of Ontario and we don’t want them finding out about health and safety after something has happened,” says Kevin Flynn, Minister of Labour.
