Tools and a motorcycle were among items stolen from units in a Cambridge storage facility.

Early Wednesday morning, thieves broke into B & B Storage on Industrial Road.

The break-in wasn’t discovered until hours later, when an employee arrived for work.

“The employee reported that the main lock to the gate had been cut and a hole had been cut into the fence,” said Waterloo Regional Police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel.

Inside the fenced compound, padlocks were found cut open on 13 storage units.

Josh Power, who has stored stuff at B & B for several years, called the incident “creepy and unnerving” and admitted to paying more attention to his surroundings when he returned to the facility.

“This kind of thing doesn’t usually happen,” he said.

Police are still working with the owners of the affected units to determine exactly what was stolen, but Heinzel said Thursday morning that the tally thus far included a motorcycle, hand tools and other personal belongings.

Some units may have been broken into but otherwise left untouched, he said.
