Three people were taken into custody at a Kitchener hotel Tuesday morning.

The arrests came after nearly two hours of a heavy police presence at the Weber Street hotel, including tactical officers approaching the building with weapons drawn and entering several rooms.

“Shortly after 7 a.m., we received a report of a disturbance possibly involving a firearm,” Insp. Shaena Morris told CTV News.

Two women and one man were arrested.

Police say they’re still investigating and charges that may be laid could relate to drugs, prostitution and/or firearms.

“We’re still looking into the possibility of a firearm being involved in this incident,” Morris said.

Although the call initially came to police as an abduction, Morris said no abduction actually took place and there was no risk to public safety.
