A Guelph man has been handed a fine and demerit points after allegedly being caught driving his motorcycle as just under double the speed limit.
Guelph Police say they stopped the motorcycle on Watson Parkway North around 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
A six-year-old girl – the daughter of the driver – was riding on the back of the vehicle.
Officers had clocked the motorcycle at 99 km/h, while the speed limit on that part of Watson is 50 km/h.
Had the motorcycle been travelling at 100 km/h, it would have been impounded and its driver’s licence seized for seven days.
As it was, the 34-year-old driver was fined $359 and four demerit points.
