Guelph Police say they’ve laid more charges against a man accused of stealing items from change rooms in city fitness clubs.

The 37-year-old man was arrested in December in connection with theft at multiple gyms.

Police alleged he was cutting locks off lockers and taking items from inside – including keys, which were then used to steal vehicles.

Further investigation has led to the man now facing a total of 48 charges, including 21 counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of fraud over $5,000.

The other charges relate to possession of stolen property, weapons and drugs, as well as fraud.

Police say a search of his home turned up stolen ID, bank cards, credit cards and cell phones.
