Two 15-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with a series of break-ins in the community of Ayr.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, one of the teens is responsible for five break-ins in which money, electronics, alcohol and jewelry were stolen from homes.

The other boy is only accused of being part of one break-in.

In two of the break-ins, police say, residents of the homes confronted the intruder, who then pulled out a knife.

That was the experience of Jennifer Charron, who returned home with her kids last month to find a stranger inside, having allegedly loaded some of her possessions into a backpack.

Charron told CTV News that the intruder pulled out a knife, but dumped the contents of the backpack onto the floor and left without stealing anything.

One 15-year-old boy is charged with five counts of breaking and entering, five counts of wearing a disguise with criminal intent, and two counts of robbery.

The other 15-year-old is charged with one count apiece of breaking and entering and possession of stolen property.

Police say both boys helped them track down the stolen items, which they’re now looking to return to their rightful owners.
