The construction zone on Highway 401 in Cambridge was awash with speeders on Canada Day.

Provincial police say they set up a “focused patrol” on the highway, between the Highway 8 and Highway 24 interchanges, for much of the day.

In that time, they stopped and charged 29 drivers for speeding through the construction zone.

As construction continues to widen that stretch of highway to 10 lanes, the posted speed limit has been dropped to 80 km/h.
