The case of a man who died after paramedics and police officers were called to a home in Cambridge is now being investigated by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit.

According to the SIU, the incident began Monday night, when paramedics were called to a home near Cedar Street and Southgate Road.

At 8:20 p.m., the SIU says, police officers were called in to help.

After police arrived, the 26-year-old man became unresponsive. He was pronounced dead in hospital.

Details of the man’s identity and what brought emergency crews to the home have not been made public.

The SIU says four investigators have been assigned to the case, and anyone who has information that might help them should call the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.

The unit is called in to investigate any case in which somebody is killed or seriously injured while interacting with police.
