Waterloo Regional Police have tracked down the passenger of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash in Kitchener’s south end – but the driver has thus far eluded the authorities.

Police say the incident began around 8 p.m. Sunday, when both vehicles involved were heading westbound on Strasburg Road.

One driver attempted to pass the other, but was unable to do so safely because of traffic, and instead sideswiped it.

Both vehicles then pulled over, at which point the passenger in the passing vehicle allegedly threatened the occupants of the other car.

According to police, the passing vehicle then backed into the other car before leaving the area.

Police later caught up with the vehicle, but say the driver ran off and only the 37-year-old passenger was taken into custody, to be charged with uttering threats.

No injuries were reported.
