One woman is dead following a two-vehicle crash involving a deer in Huron County.

OPP say they were called to Highway 21 at Victoria Street, north of Goderich in Port Albert, around 7 p.m. Monday.

According to police, an SUV was southbound on the highway when it crashed into a deer.

The force of the crash caused the deer to become airborne and fly into the path of a northbound SUV – where it crashed through the windshield and struck the person sitting in the passenger seat.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of her vehicle was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The woman killed has been identified as Elizabeth Neable, a 67-year-old woman from Tiverton.

The two people in the southbound SUV were not injured.
