Brantford firefighters spent over seven hours fighting a stubborn fire at a tire business Saturday.

The fire broke out at Liberty Tire Recycling on Henry Street around 3:30 p.m. As many as 40 firefighters were on scene.

The fire started from a heat buildup in the machine that is used to shred the rubber tires.

This isn’t the first fire at the recycling plant; Firefighters say it is just the nature of the business.

Pollution control was on scene to monitor the situation.

Eight staff members were evacuated from the building, but there were no injuries.

There is no word on how much damage the fire caused.
