Woolwich Township council has decided on a location for a possible new splash pad in Elmira.

Bolender Park was chosen at a public meeting Tuesday night.

Last October council passed a resolution of support for the project.

Over the last few months, the Woolwich Recreation Facilities Foundation raised $500,000 to cover building the splash pad, but the township would be responsible for operating and maintenance costs.

Those costs could run about $40,000 per year. Some councilors, though in favour of the community having a splash pad, thought the price tag was too high.

Council is now looking for more information on operating costs, the hours the splash pad will be open and water consumption.
