Shoppers who frequent Uptown Waterloo have a new incentive to spend more time in the area.

Waterloo city council approved a pilot project that will increase parking time limits from two to three hours.

The changes will only affect the Station Lot (at Erb and Gillen streets), the post office lot, and the lot at Regina Street and Bridgeport Road.

The new limit will take effect June 13 and will last for one year.

The goal is to encourage more people to visit and shop in the area during LRT construction.
