Police are searching for two people in connection with a home invasion in Brantford – and they expect to lay charges against the person whose home was broken into.

Around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, a break-in in progress at a home on Marlborough Street, north of Brantford’s downtown core, was reported to police.

According to police, two masked intruders had left the home empty-handed after being hit with a bong wielded by the homeowner.

Officers followed a trail of blood away from the home, but the trail ended at a nearby grassy area.

Police then returned to the home, asked questions about why the residence may have been targeted, and seized what they describe as a large bag of marijuana.

Charges are pending in connection with the drug seizure, while police say they welcome any information about the identities of the two intruders.
