Firefighters from Puslinch, Guelph-Eramosa, Cambridge and Guelph were unable to save a rural home from being destroyed by fire Thursday night.

Around 7:20 p.m., crews were called to the home on Wellington Road 34, in Puslinch Township southwest of Guelph.

“The first crew reported flames through the roof. They quickly made an initial attack,” Puslinch Fire Chief Steven Goode told CTV News.

Part of the home’s roof collapsed, but firefighters say nobody was inside when the flames broke out.

“The fire, due to the extreme heat, penetrated all floors,” Goode said.

In total, approximately 45 firefighters were called to the scene.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
