A man seen with a knife dangling from his waist at Lions Park turned out to have several more on his person, Brantford Police say.

The man was spotted during Wednesday’s Canada Day festivities in the park, around 4:30 p.m.

Police say the man had a “large, sheathed knife” hanging from his belt, as well as three more knives in his pockets.

A search of the 21-year-old’s backpack allegedly turned up four more knives, a “small” axe and a loaded BB gun, which police say looked like a handgun.

The man faces one charge of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
