Brantford police have a 32-year-old man in custody after being called by a concerned neighbour.

Around 3:45 a.m. Thursday, a resident on Brock Street called police to report he had seen a man stealing tools out of his neighbour’s truck.  When the man left the driveway, the citizen followed at a distance and noted the direction of travel.  A detailed description of the suspect and the bicycle he rode was also given to police.

When officers arrived in the area, they found a man matching the description and told him he was under arrest.  The suspect took off but police were able to chase him down after a brief foot chase.

A 32-year-old Brantford man has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen goods under $5,000, obstruct police and possession of break-in tools.  Police also discovered that there were four outstanding warrants for the man’s arrest.

The man is expected to appear in court Thursday.
