A 23-year-old man was taken to a London hospital Friday, after he was struck by a transport truck in Norfolk County.

OPP say the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. in the community of Courtland, east of Tillsonburg.

According to police, an OPP officer located a pick-up truck in a wood lot about 50 ft off of the highway.

Police say the officer spoke with the 23-year-old male driver and then returned to his cruiser.

The man then got out of his truck and started to walk across the road, when he was then hit by a transport truck travelling westbound, according to police.

Highway 3 was shut down overnight between Talbot Street and Byerlay Side Road as the province’s Special Investigations Unit investigated the crash.
