Man dead after train hits pickup in Oxford County

A man is dead following a crash between a pickup truck and a train in Oxford County overnight.

Around 2:00 a.m. Monday, a westbound CP train collided with a truck on 13^th Line west of Thamesford.  The collision pushed the pickup an estimated 100 metres down the tracks where it came to rest in the ditch beside the track.

Police say the pickup was stopped on the tracks when the crash occurred.  The man behind the wheel of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

13th Line, just north of Oxford Road 2, was closed for several hours Monday morning as police conducted their investigation.
